Trump’s statements came while he was discussing the tariffs he imposed on countries throughout the world, gloating about his actions as president in comparison to his predecessors, whom he attacked.The President’s remarks soon shifted from policy to personal criticism as he lauded his trade achievements. “We were treated very unfairly on trade,” he claimed, before making a clear distinction between his presidency and those who preceded it.
He argued that previous US leaders either lacked commercial acumen or did not care to prioritize it, stating frankly, “We had presidents that, in some cases, were smart, but they didn’t understand business […] or it wasn’t like a priority.”
The moment became especially explosive when he referred to the previous administration as “useless,” “incompetent,” and the “worst administration in the history” of the United States, claiming their sole strength was “chea:ting in elections.”
